The Arizona Wine and Spirits Wholesalers Association (AWSWA) has appointed Karie Dozer as its new Executive Director, effective August 1, 2015.

“Karie brings a wealth of experience to AWSWA, and we are very pleased that she has joined our team,” said David Bart, association president. “Her experience in Arizona media and philanthropy, combined with her deep roots in the Phoenix community make her the perfect addition to our strong local association. We look forward to working with her to make AWSWA even stronger.”

Outgoing association president Shawn Thurman echoed Bart’s statement, saying, “These three companies are heavily invested in our local community, and we look forward to having an association leader who has strong local roots. We are fortunate to call Arizona our home and we want to give back in the best way we can.”

AWSWA is a non-profit corporation formed in 2013 whose membership is comprised of wine, beer and spirits wholesalers in the state of Arizona. AWSWA serves to promote the general welfare of the wholesale wine and spirits distribution industry by working with the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control, conducting research on matters of interest to the wholesale wine and spirits industry, and coordinating the sizeable charitable contributions made by the wholesalers. AWSWA proudly represents more than 1600 employees of its three member companies and their families.

Dozer has lived in Phoenix since 1988. She graduated from ASU with a B.A. in Journalism in 1992, and has worked in and around Phoenix media ever since. She and her family have supported numerous local causes and agencies, including Valley of the Sun United Way, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Foundation for Blind Children, United Cerebral Palsy, and Teach for America.
